About NPK

Every day we work with the children to instill a love for God, for themselves, for others—and a love and curiosity for learning. We believe that compassionate acceptance of themselves and others can make the most impact.

Our Mission

Nativity Preschool is a Christ-centered, developmentally appropriate learning environment. We nurture each child’s mental, social, spiritual, emotional, and physical needs. Our preschool provides children a safe haven in which they will develop the joy of learning and a sense of community. Nativity Preschool teaches that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Friend.

Mike Natarella

Director

I am both blessed and overjoyed at the opportunity to serve Nativity Preschool and Kindergarten as the director. My path to Nativity Preschool has been filled with wonderful life experiences, travel, and surrounding myself with some of the most inspiring students, parents, teachers, administrators, and professors who have all positively impacted my life. I earned my undergraduate degree in secondary social studies from The University of Missouri-Columbia (Go Tigers!), and my Master’s and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). I spent eleven years as a middle and high school teacher in Missouri, Paraguay, and Alabama. Next, I spent five years as an elementary assistant principal in Alabama mentored by two amazing principals who inspired and challenged me to always engage the entire community in order to maximize the potential of each and every student. I look forward to collaborating with the entire NPK family in order to continue to provide an excellent preschool and kindergarten experience for all of our children!

Assistant Director

I am so excited to be returning for another wonderful year at NPK. I moved to Asheville in 2004 with my husband, Matt. We have a 9 year old son, Beckett and a 6 year old daughter, Emme. Both of my kids attended NPK and as a parent since 2010, I immediately saw what a special place Nativity is. I began working in Early Drop Off and was then asked by the director to come on more full time. I eagerly accepted and quickly assumed the role of Assistant Director, which I have held since 2013. I am very dedicated to our school and excited to continue to support our teachers and staff, and most importantly the children and families at NPK!
