Welcome to Kindergarten! This is such an amazing time for children—it is a transition to becoming a “big” kid! In our classroom, we use each child’s natural curiosity and excitement to lay the groundwork for a love of learning and instill community engagement. We’re so excited to spend the year with your child!

Kindergarten is offered half-day, 8:45 am until 12:45 pm, Monday through Friday. The class offers a Christian environment with daily devotions, and a curriculum based on the NC Common Core Standards, www.ncpublicschools.org. Our reading program also includes the Balanced Literacy Model “4 Blocks” in accordance with the standards and we add phonics with Saxon Phonics and Spelling and Saxon Math at the Kindergarten level. The same primary writing program, by Lucy Calkins, offered in the public schools is incorporated at the Kindergarten and can be reviewed at www.unitsofstudy.com. In addition, we offer Spanish, Music, field trips, and weekly Physical Education.
I am so excited to start my first year at Nativity. I have spent the last four years working in Henderson County Public Schools. I received my Bachelor’s in Education at Mars Hill College. I have been married to my husband for 16 wonderful years. We have two kids Isaac (13) and Amaya (9). When we aren’t focused on our kids’ academic and athletic activities we try to be outside as much as possible. We love to camp, fish, and hike as much as possible. I am so blessed to be here and so thankful to spend the next year with your Curious Kinders.
